We as humans are designed to adapt to change- some of us adapt a little easier than others but adapt we do. And we have all faced a huge test recently adapting to what has become the new ‘normal’ in all our lives. Only a few weeks ago we were still popping out to met friends, grab a coffee, head to the beach, go to work and do all the things we wanted to do, when we wanted to do them. All these things that we all probably took for granted- I mean why wouldn’t we?
Fast forward a month or so and blimey, how much has changed. The kids no longer go to school and are attempting to be ‘home schooled’ by their parents now with mixed results! Exams have been cancelled and people are no longer going to work, unless absolutely necessary. There has been national panic buying of soap, pasta and toilet rolls amongst other things and supermarkets had to ration the number of items that could be bought in any one trip. You now have to queue to get into any shop for food and popping to the shops is no longer really an option. All other non-essential shops, cafes ans bard have closed, there is no socialising with anyone (unless you live with them and let’s be fair, who wants to socialist with the people you live with?!), and you can’t even head to a park, the beach or the hills for a day out. When put like that, it seems like a different world.
And we have all adapted to this and taken on the new ‘normal’ in our lives. Not that this has been easy and enjoyable for all, but adapt we have. So, let’s hope that when lock-down is finally lifted and the world goes back to the old ‘normal’ that we all adapt as fast to that! Hold on peeps, it’s going to be an interesting ride getting out of this!
