Just like anything in business, and in life generally, things constantly change and evolve. Here’s a photo of what Parkhill Business Centre used to look like almost 200 years ago. It served as a prestigious private boarding school for young gentlemen, was opened in 1852 by a Mr William Tiplady, and demolished in 1968.
Not much remains of the original building (though there are some steps and a raised patio area behind the Champagne Warehouse and Annexe buildings and we believe the structure to the right of the main house on the photograph is our current reception with our Boardroom above). However, it’s interesting to think that the site has gone from housing and educating young men of the era during a time before electric lights and without telephones (let alone computers and WiFi), to now hosting such a variety of people and businesses, both as an office base or for holding meetings in one of our 3 well equipped meeting rooms. I wonder if the old building would also have had the flexible space for our current, various sized offices, including our co working spaces, plus 5 kitchens and break out areas. I would be intrigued to know what William Tiplady would think of his boarding school and stables etc now? I am sure he would approve!
